Champagne du Rédempteur

At the beginning of the twentieth century, the economic situation of the champagne vine growers is difficult: At that time, the most terrible evil to face is the lack of regulation! Indeed, no law, no "Appellation Contrôlée" exist to protect wines from Champagne … In order to prevent other wines from taking the name CHAMPAGNE to the detriment of the consumer, winemakers Champenois revolt. During these events of 1911, our ancestor, Edmond DUBOIS defends with so much ardor the profession and the tradition Champagne, which his entourage calls him "The Redeemer". Then, the First World War occurs. In 1918, Venteuil, our village, was completely destroyed. These serious events will delay the establishment of a law governed in 1927, which since then strictly protects the Champagne wine and allows us to affirm today loud and clear: "There is Champagne only Champagne".
